I finally finished my eleventh book. (I’m so not going to meet my goal of 15…) I read Peace Like A River which has been on my must-read list for a while. I started it months ago, put it down to read a couple other books and just recently picked it back up again.
The book follows the story of an 11-year-old boy named Reuben “Rube” Land as he recounts a period of his childhood during 1962 when his older brother, Davy, flees after being charged with murder. It’s a story of miracles and ordinary everyday magic.
I truly enjoyed this book. The story was engaging and the characters were likable because they were so realistic. They were flawed, but lovable. It was easy to relate to each one of them. I would recommend that everyone read this book. In fact, I already gave it to my mom.
