I haven’t been so great about posting garden updates, but I have been good about taking photos and keeping my garden journal to note any major changes.
Here is what the garden looked like last week. It’s seriously bursting at the seams! The tomatoes are huge and growing like crazy. There are a ton of tomatoes, but none ripe enough yet to harvest. I did harvest some basil to initiate some growth and it worked well. There’s tons more that’s grown since the harvest. The zinnias are finally starting to bloom. I can’t wait to have more to cut and bring inside. The sunflowers are so close to blooming. I’m excited to see what they’ll look like when they do. We have 8 or 9 ears of corn growing. I’m hoping that they’ll be ready to harvest by the end of the month. We also finally have some more green peppers starting. After the tomatoes got huge they kind of covered up the pepper plant, but it grew a bunch and now it’s getting plenty of sun again. We even had some lettuce pop up after a bunch of rain and sunshine.
I’m still loving this little garden of ours. The kids love it too. It’s such a fulfilling hobby. I’m smitten.
I think I’ll plant some spinach and romaine in that front corner where nothing seems to want to grow. Originally I put flowers there, but that didn’t work. That corner gets the least amount of sun throughout the day, so I’m thinking greens might grow best.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
