Are you sick of all the peonies yet?! I know I’m not. I can’t get enough of them.
Last Saturday we made a visit to a local garden here in Omaha called Lauritzen Gardens. I’ve mentioned this place in previous posts. It’s a huge local botanical garden. We became members last year and have enjoyed it to the fullest. They have excellent festivals all year long, especially for kids.
They have a huge garden devoted to just peonies. There are at least 15 varieties. This was my first year being able to see them all in bloom. We didn’t become members until after the peony season last June and we just missed seeing them, so I’ve been waiting a year for this. It was beautiful.
Like most everyone, peonies are one of my favorite flowers. My mom had some light pink peonies when I was a kid and they bring back a lot of memories. Especially their fragrance. Mmmmm.
I didn’t take along my big camera this time, which I completely regretted once I saw the the beauties. I did snap about a hundred photos with iPhone though. I think I’ll make a Project Life collage with all of them. I mean why not. They’re just too pretty.
Which one is your favorite? It’s so hard to choose, but I think I have to go with the coral colored variety. I need one planted in my yard someday. I wish that I would’ve written down each varieties name, but alas I did not. Maybe next time.
Some of them hadn’t bloomed yet, so I think another visit might be in order before they’re gone for the year.
