This is a very exciting day for me! I attempted to make a pillow with a zipper and I did it. I mentioned before that I came across a pin of some really pretty fabric on one of my Pinterest boards and as soon as I saw it again I immediately got on Etsy, searched the name of the fabric and ordered a yard of it.
I’m not typically drawn to floral prints. It always depends on the design and the colors. I adore this pattern. The colors are beautiful and exactly what I was looking for. I became the inspiration for our master bedroom makeover.
I was so nervous about attempting a pillow let alone a pillow with a zipper. I followed this tutorial that was written for beginners and it turns out that sewing a pillow isn’t really hard at all! I will admit though that I had two pretty big screw ups that left me ripping out seams for 45 minutes, but they both occurred because I wasn’t paying as close attention as I should have been. They could’ve easily been avoided. I kept with it though and it turned out great.
Here is a shot of the zipper. It’s not perfect, but it looks pretty darn good for a first timer. (I think)
Now the walls need a new coat of paint.
I love, love, love it. I’m so proud of my accomplishment. Now I can make all kinds of pillows! My house will be overflowing with them. : )
In case you’re wondering the mustard yellow pillow is from IKEA and the cream and gray striped pillow is from HomeGoods.
