Last night I finished my second book of the year. I read Hands Free Mama by Rachel Macy Stafford.
This book had been on my reading list for quite a while, so when it went on sale in the Amazon store for $2.99 I snatched it up.
As I’ve mentioned here on the blog before, I am always trying to be aware of how much I’m using my phone and trying to make sure I’m putting it down and paying attention to what’s really happening around me. I’ve gotten so much better about it and am happy with the amount of time I “waste” on my phone now.
This book definitely validated my feelings about how I needed to be aware of and stop the addiction. There were a lot of great examples in the book about moments and memories that may have been missed, but weren’t because she decided to go “hands free”. However, I do feel that the book got a little redundant after a while. I started to skim over some of the stories by the end because I felt like I knew lesson by that point in the book.
I would recommend it to my friends, especially if they are having trouble with the addiction to technology. It’s a great reminder of how much we can miss if we’re not paying attention and giving the people in our lives the time they deserve.
