Now that it’s officially fall, I thought I would share with you one of our little traditions. For the past four years (since Hudson was born) I’ve been creating us a Fall Bucket List. Yep, we have a Summer Family Fun List and a Fall Bucket List. Have I ever mentioned that I like lists?!
There are a few activities that we love to do every fall, so I like to be sure that we get them all in, plus a few extras. I tend to keep the regulars on the list every year. You know, pumpkin patch, carve pumpkins, hike, etc. But I also like to try to incorporate a few new activities each year too, like going out for coffee and donuts or make a turkey craft.
Fall is such a magical time! I can’t wait to start having fun!
Here is our Fall Bucket List for 2013.

I would love to hear about your autumn adventures if you decide to join in the fun!

I finally finished reading my sixth book. Man, am I behind in this reading challenge or what?!
Belong To Me by Marisa se los Santos
I’m not sure where to start with this book. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t totally love it either. I think my problem with the book was that I didn’t really connect with any of the characters until at least half way through, and because I didn’t connect, I had a hard time wanting to keep reading. Obviously.
But once, I got about a third of the way through, I finally started to like the characters. And once that happened, I wanted to keep reading.
I also thought there were way too many points where the characters are rambling. And even though it was intellectual rambling, it got super annoying, and I ended up skimming over most of it.
I have a couple more of her books on my must-read list, but I think I’ll move those down the list a bit. At this point, I’m not really interested in reading more from her, but that could still change. Especially if I get a recommendation from someone.
This book slowed me down a lot and I’m very behind, but hopefully I can make up for it in the next three and a half months and still make all the projects I have floating around in my head!
Have you guys read any good books lately? I’m open to suggestions!
Have a great weekend!
I finally finished the first of my ten projects!! I thought I’d never finish!
We bought plain white curtains at IKEA last fall and planned to hang them in our living room. I knew I didn’t want plain white curtains, but I couldn’t decide on a way to jazz them up, so we never got around to hanging them. I searched Pinterest for different designs to paint onto them and finally came across this pin for a potato stamped pillow. I loved the design and the black and white!! I knew that’s what I wanted my curtains to look like. Yay!
I carved my potato and got to work. I was so nervous to do the first few stamps that I actually really botched one up! Oops. But I figured, hey I want it them to look hand stamped so now they do. Plus I can sort of hide the slip ups when I hang them.
I’m in the process of painting our living room, so I couldn’t hang them yet, but I wanted you to be able to see what they look like hung so I put them up in my daughter’s room since her room is the same color we’re painting the living room.
I absolutely LOVE the way they turned out! They look exactly like I envisioned and I’m so glad that I waited until I found just the right design before I hung them. Now I just need to finish painting the living room so that I can get them up and stare at them all day. No, seriously.
Now that I have this giant project completed, I think I’ll pick something a little less time intensive for project two! Ha! Ha!
Anyone else catch the DIY/crafting bug with the change of seasons? I can’t wait to get going on the next one!
Happy Hump Day!

I’m sorry that my posts have been so sporadic! I started my the first of my Ten Projects and the project I’m working on is taking much longer than anticipated! It’s waaaaay more work than I was expecting. But I am loving the outcome and know that all the work will prove to be totally worth it! I have to work on it some more today and then can hopefully finish tomorrow. I hope anyway, because my neck, back and hands are getting a little sore!
Here is a sneak peek.
Oh my gosh, I’m in love with this project! Okay, I’m off to work on it some more…
Well, summer is winding down here in Nebraska and my garden seems to be too. I plan to harvest my basil this afternoon and I think it will be the final harvest. It’s definitely not growing as quickly now that the temps have cooled off at night.
As for my tomatoes, there are seven on the plant, but I’m not sure that any will actually ripen. We had a couple of week of pretty strong wind that kept blowing my pot over (even after I leaned it up against the table!) and it ended up damaging five of my bigger tomatoes. Whomp. Whomp. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed to get at least one. If I got one, it would feel like quite the accomplishment considering I’ve never them before.
Happy Monday! I’m off to (hopefully) finish my big project!
Trying to figure out my new schedule now that Hudson’s in preschool. There’s a lot more driving and going in my daily routine which is proving to interfere with my blogging.
Working on two big projects to post about as soon as they’re finished.
Loving that the temps are feeling more like fall now.
Running and feeling good about it.
Reading my September/October issue of Midwest Living. Oh how I love that magazine.
Enjoying having some alone time with my little lady while Hudson is gone. It’s awesome getting in some girl time!
Watching the Gilmore Girls. How did I not watch this show when it was on TV?! It’s so good! Yay for Netflix!
Needing a massage. My lower back has been very sensitive lately and it’s really hurting today.
Obsessing over Dunkin Donuts pumpkin donut thanks to my friend, Melissa. I’m pretty sure I could eat one every day. But I won’t.
Planning our trip to Minneapolis and getting excited for a visit to IKEA. Is that weird?! Don’t answer that.
Painting the living room this weekend. Oh. Man.
Wearing a sweatshirt this morning. It’s cozy.
Getting ready for an afternoon trip to the zoo.
Hoping that at least one of my tomatoes will turn red before the plant dies. Just one. Is that too much to ask for?
Opening the windows and letting in all that crisp fresh air.
Happy Friday Everyone!
Oh, and GO BIG RED!!!!!!!
This week is going to be very busy.
It’s Hudson’s first full week at Preschool.
I’m participating in Ali Edwards Week In The Life project.
I’m working on a big project for our living room as well as painting the living room (which is a huge undertaking because we have very high ceilings).
I’m working on Project Life.
I’m finishing the project for Hudson’s room.
I started running again and am trying to get in a run at least four times this week.
Hudson has a soccer game on Saturday.
And of course there’s the big NU vs. UCLA game too!
We are also trying to squeeze in a couple more activities from our Summer Family Fun List.
And I’m currently procrastinating.
I had big plans for project posts this week, but life got in the way and I haven’t gotten a chance to finish, let alone photograph my projects. But I promise that I will be posting them next week!
So instead, I thought I’d post my recent and favorite Instagrams. It’s been a while and I have some good ones!
Some of the highlights were Hudson catching his very first fish, Harper eating her first ice cream cone (well the first time she had one all to herself) and going to the first Nebraska game of the season with one of my BFF’s, Rachael. (Oh my was it hot! which explains my appearance! ha!)
As I mentioned last week, I did a lot of Project Life catch up last week and am feeling pretty good about my progress. I’m still a little behind, but I’m getting there!
This was Hudson’s birthday week so there is a lot going on.
I put this photo collage together in Photoshop so that I could include more from that outing that I didn’t have the space for if I had added the full photos. That’s a great trick if you run out of space and can shrink your photos into a collage.
Not much to report this week. We were home and just hanging out. The kids did get to celebrate their first May Day. I had never done it before because I was waiting until they got a little older. All I did was make them little May baskets with popcorn and M&M’s. I even had to make sure Harper’s popcorn didn’t have any kernal shells because kids aren’t really supposed to have it until they’re four. She didn’t like it anyway and I ended up eating it for her! Exciting stuff. I know.
Catching up feels good! I’m in the process of working on my projects, so I’ll be back tomorrow with some of that!
And as always, if you would like to know more about what products I used, please leave a comment.
